Recently over early morning coffee at my coffee place I read that line. "You can't out distance the past." It gave me pause.
In the mid 1990s' I located and made contact with my biological mother. In a phone conversation we made arrangements for my wife and I to meet her. Shortly thereafter on a October Sunday afternoon my wife and I sat in the living room of her Pennsylvania home.
Just a few minutes into our meeting she got up from her chair, walked to the fireplace in her living room, she took from the mantel over the fireplace a pair of bronzed baby shoes. Handing them to me she said, "they were yours............. they have always been there."

I smiled and thought ......there's a lot of truth in that statement.
