Today as I was walking from the stacks of the library I often frequent, I passed the old movie section. There it sat, “The Wizard of Oz.” The 1939 film that would later become very popular. It lost out as film of the year in 1939 to another rather successful movie, “Gone with the Wind.” One cannot think of that movie and not see a young Judy Garland as Dorothy with her dog, Toto.
Some really great quotes can be found in that film; such as:
“Some people without brains do a lot of talking”
(Scarecrow)
“A heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others.”
(Wizard of Oz)
“As for you my galvanized friend, you want a heart? You don’t know how lucky you are not to
have a heart. Hearts will never be practical until they can be made unbreakable.”
(Wizard of Oz)
Hum, some truths… people without a brain talking and unbreakable hearts.
