Below is something I wrote in 2011. Good book. Some might think of it as a "chick" book. But that's ok. Maybe it would do some of us guys good to read a few chick books on occasion and vice-versa.

Just some thoughts:
Amy tells the story of sitting on a park bench in southern California and meeting up with a stranger, a homeless man. After a few minutes of conversation she said to the man, “What’s your name?” “Johnny Gillepsie, and yours?” he asked. “Amy,” she replied.
Then she made an interesting observation. She said how knowing someone’s name makes that person more real, more human. When we know a person’s name they are no longer just a homeless person or a problem child or a customer. They are a person.
Sometime back I had an encounter with a homeless man outside of a Burger King in Nashville. I asked him to come in with me and get a bite to eat. The two of us stood in line, gave the young lady our order, then he said something to me I have never forgotten. He asked me, “What’s your name?” “Larry,” I responded. “I’m Ed” he replied. Then he said “When we get our food would you have a minute just to sit and talk with me?”
Every one of us is a person created in God’s image. We need to remember that… “My name is Ed, and when we get our food would you have a minute to sit and talk with me?”
