"A long life deprives a man of his optimism"
Ernest Hemingway
A while back my wife and I were in Key West, Florida and while there visited the home of writer Ernest Hemingway.
Maybe one should say the home of the cats rather than Hemingway. Many shared their home with Hemingway. There are somewhere between forty and fifty cats living there. Needless to say Hemingway had a thing for cats. These cats most of them are polydactyl --six toes. They definitely had their run of the place. Most every room we visited, beds, couches, chairs you would find one resting there as if that should be expected.
What a strange and complicated man he was.
"Better to die in all the happy period of unillusioned youth, to go out in a blaze of
light, than to have your body worn out and old and illusions shattered."
He did write some lines that could give one pause.
