Just some thoughts:
Sadly Phil Everly passed away this past week at the age of seventy-four in Southern California. He was the younger brother of the famous Everly Brothers duo that had such great popularity in the late 1950s’ and into the 60s’. As I sit here tonight I’m playing a cd from their famous reunion concert tour. This one was done in England where they had continued to have a huge following over the years.
I loved their music. My wife and I saw them on their last reunion tour in Easton, Pennsylvania, and later we saw them here in Nashville when they made a special guest appearance with Simon and Garfunkel. Plain and simple I loved the sound of the Everly brothers and thousands of us “kids” from that time did.
When I want you in my arms, when I want you and all your charms
Whenever I want you, all I have to do is dream
Dream, dream, dream
When I feel blue in the night and I want you to hold me tight
Whenever I want you, all I have to do is dream
I can make you mine, taste your lips of wine
Anytime night or day
Only trouble is gee whiz, I’m dreamin’ my life away
I love you and that is why whenever I need you
All I have to do is dream
I need you so that I could die, whenever I want you
All I have to do is…dream
"I don't feel a bit embarrassed singing about teenage love when I'm in my sixties because I don't
think anybody ever forgets that part of their life."
Don Everly--The Everly Brothers: Walk Right Back--Roger White
Don....I agree. I have not forgotten.
